Maize Distillers Dark Grains is a by-product of alcohol distilling by drying solid residues of fermented grain to which certain solubles (pot ale syrup or evaporated spent wash) have been added. The grain is processed to release starch which is then cooked to convert it into sugars and then fermented with yeast to porduce alcohol. The grain is then dried to produce Maize Distillers Dark Grains which are available all year.

Nutritional Attributes

Maize Distillers Dark Grains has the following benefits: High in fibre and has the highest energy value of all distillers grains due to it's high oil content. A palatable high energy and protein feed with good levels of digestible fibre. A good source of bypass undegradable protein due to heat during the manufacture process although low in starch and sugar due to extraction. Can be used for a wide range of stock.

Storage and Handling

Maize Distillers Dark Grains are available in bulk loads and should be stored in a cool, dry place. Will have been stored in compliance with MAFF Code of Practice for the Control of Salmonella.
